SPOKANE, Wash. -The Department of Defense identified the man who died in a helicopter crash in Iraq as 34-year-old Taylor Galvin from Spokane.
The DOD says Chief Warrant Officer 3 Taylor J. Galvin died as a result of injuries sustained when his helicopter crash in Sinjar, Ninevah Province, Iraq on Monday.
The crash is still under investigation.
Galvin was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR), Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
According to U.S. Army Special Operations Command, Galvin was born in Phoenix and entered the Army as an aircraft mechanic in 2003. In 2007, Galvin was accepted to Warrant Officer Candidate School and graduated flight school in 2008.
The U.S. Army Special Operations Command says Galvin was a combat veteran with nine deployments, two in support of Iraqi Freedom, three in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and four in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.
