A 23-year-old man is dead and another is alive after a tragic crash early Friday morning in Post Falls.
The collision happened around 2am. The occupants were driving on 4th Ave. approaching Seltice Way at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was negotiating a slight left curve when it went off the right shoulder, struck a large boulder and rolled. The vehicle came to rest in a field on the south side of the roadway.
Derrick Starke, a 23-year-old Coeur d'Alene man, was treated on scene for minor injures. Patrick Sparr, also a 23-year-old Coeur d'Alene man, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
No seatbelts were in use.
The investigation into the vehicle's driver is ongoing.
